What are the Medical Coverage options?
A.
This Plan offers a (1) Self-funded Indemnity option (Aetna); (2) WHA HMO option and (3) Kaiser HMO option. For more details regarding these options, you can view the Summary Benefits and Coverage (SBCs) by using the Document tab on this website or you can contact the Trust Fund office using the “Contact Us” tab.

How do I obtain a list of In-Network Providers under the self-funded Indemnity Option (Aetna)?
A.
You can click on the Health Care Tab on this website, under Useful Health Care Links, click on the Aetna link and click on “Find a Doctor” located on the top right hand side of the link; or you may go to www.Aetna.com and/or calling 1(800)US-AETNA or 1(800) 872-3862.

Who is eligible to become a Participant in the Plan?
A.
You are eligible to participate in the Plan if you work for an Employer that is required to make contributions to the Health and Welfare Plan for the work you perform. For most Participants, this means working in a position covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Employer and the Union.

How do I become a Participant in the Plan?
A.
You become a Participant in the Plan the first day of the month after you have had Employer Contributions made or due on your behalf for at least five calendar months in a Plan Year. Or the June 1st or December 1st following the date you have completed at 1,000 Hours of Service in a period of twelve consecutive months beginning with your Initial Date of Coverage.

I am going through a divorce, what happens to my pension?
A.
If you are getting a divorce, your former spouse may be entitled to receive a portion of your pension payments. The Plan must comply with any order issued by the state divorce court that is a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO). If you or your attorney have any questions or would like assistance before the QDRO is finalized, please contact the Trust Fund Office for a Sample Order and the Plan's Procedures.

Does the Pension Plan affect Social Security benefits in any way?
A.
No.

Can pensions be paid or assigned or garnered to others?
A.
Your benefit are payable only to you and your designated beneficiaries, except for certain divorce and child support orders as required by law.
