Prescription drug coverage can play an important role in your overall health. Prescription drug coverage is included with any of the medical plans offered by the Fund. Recognizing the importance of this coverage, the Fund has contracted with a Pharmacy Benefit Manager, Sav-Rx, that provides access to a national retail pharmacy network and a mail-order service that are easy, convenient, and can save you money on your medications. (Note: Local 125 participants enrolled under the Kasier HMO Plan will have their prescriptions filled through Kaiser directly.) The information provided on this page is only a brief description of the Benefit Plans offered to participants under the IBEW/Western Utilities Health & Welfare Trust Fund. For detailed information on the prescription plan options available to you, including copay, deductible or clinical programs, please log-in and download the Plan’s Summary Plan Description or Open Enrollment Guide in the Documents/Forms section of this website.
The Retail Program
The Sav-Rx retail pharmacy network includes participating pharmacies throughout the United States, including national and regional chains and independent pharmacies. You can have your prescriptions for short-term medications—a 34- day supply—filled at any network retail pharmacy. The program offers you discounted prices on your prescriptions when you go to a participating retail pharmacy and present your prescription drug ID card. Your level of coverage will depend on whether your prescription medication is a generic, preferred brand, or non-preferred brand. When you have your prescription filled at a participating pharmacy, you won’t have to file a claim form to be reimbursed for prescription drug expenses. The Fund will automatically pay a percent of the cost of the medication, after you have met the retail pharmacy annual deductible. If you are enrolled in the Consumer Driven Health Plan and do not have your prescription filled at a participating pharmacy, the Plan will not cover the cost of your prescription. You will be responsible to pay for the full cost of your medication. However, if you are enrolled in one of the other PPO plan options and you do not have your prescription filled at a participating pharmacy, you will have to pay the full cost of your prescription at the pharmacy and then submit a claim to Sav-Rx for reimbursement. You will be reimbursed 60% of the discounted cost of your medication, minus your copay.
The Mail Order Program
You can have your prescriptions for maintenance medications—a 90-day supply—filled through mail order. All plan participants will be able to purchase a 90-day supply of maintenance mediations at most network retail pharmacies. You will pay three times the 34-day retail copay. The program is especially convenient for filling prescriptions for arthritis, high blood pressure, heart conditions, diabetes and others that you take on a long-term basis. Your level of coverage will depend on whether your prescription medication is a generic, preferred brand, or non-preferred brand. Switching your retail prescription to a mail-order prescription will be easy. You’ll need to contact Sav-Rx at (866) 233-4239, or download a mail order form online at www.savrx.com. Then follow the instructions. Your medication will arrive within a few days of Sav-Rx receiving your prescription.
