Who is eligible to become a Participant in the Plan?

A.

You must be working in a Covered Employment and meet the initial eligibility rules of the plan.

Q.

What if I don’t work enough hours to gain eligibility for the month?

A.

You will be allowed to make a self payment to continue coverage. There is a limit to the number of self payments allowed. Please contact the benefit office for complete details.

Q.

How do I maintain my monthly Health Care coverage?

A.

To maintain monthly Health Care coverage, you must work the required monthly hours or if you do not work enough hours, you will be allowed to make a self payment.

Q.

How do I become a Participant in the Plan?

A.

Participation is the first day for which pension contributions are received on your behalf


Q.

I am going through a divorce, what happens to my pension?

A.

Until a judgment of divorce is received at the Fund Office, your pension is not affected. A full copy of the divorce is required. If the divorce mentions a separation or settlement agreement or QDRO, a full copy of that document is also needed.

Does the Pension Plan affect Social Security benefits in any way?

A.

No, the pension does not affect your social security benefit (including Disability SS Award).

Legal Services


Q.

How do I become a participant, enroll, in the Legal Services Plan?

A.

If they are a member of the CU, they must complete the form at the CU authorizing the cost be withheld from their account and paid to the Legal Services Fund each month. If they are employed by Sysco, the CU & Legal Services form should be part of their hiring package.  If they are retired they need to contact the Pension Fund office or the CU for the form to complete.

What is the cost of Legal Services coverage?

A.

$10.00 per month


Q.

When am I eligible for coverage?

A.

Eligibility begins once 2 months of contributions are received; you are entitled the first day of the 3rd month.
