Who is eligible to become a Participant in the Plan?

What if I don’t work enough hours to gain eligibility for the month?
135 covered hours are required each month to continue coverage. Amounts over that will remain in your hour bank up to 675 hours. If you do not have enough hours, you have the option to continue coverage by making timely payments to the Trust Office. If you have questions about maintaining your coverage or how to make a payment, please call us at 800-811-8851.
When do I first become eligible for coverage?
You will become eligible for coverage beginning with the first day of the second calendar month following an accumulation of 540 hours in your Hour Bank.

How do I become a Participant in the Plan?
You are employed for an employer required to make contributions to the plan on your behalf by a collective bargaining agreement with Local 367 or Local 375, both of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry AFL- CIO, or a special agreement.
I am going through a divorce, what happens to my pension?
In most cases, the court will divide your pension by using either a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO), depending on the type of pension. If your former spouse is awarded a portion of your earned benefit through the Plan, it will be necessary that you and your spouse complete a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) so that the Plan can pay benefits to your former spouse. You may contact the Benefit Office and request that a sample QDRO be provided to you.
Does the Pension Plan affect Social Security benefits in any way?

When do I become eligible for benefits?
If you’re employed under a collective bargaining agreement between your employer and U.A. Locals No. 375 or 367 that requires your employer to make contributions to the Plan on your behalf, you will become a Plan participant on the first day that employer contributions are required for you, or if sooner, the first day on which you are eligible to make pretax contributions.
