Frequently Asked Pension Questions


Q. How can I have my address changed?
A. You can simply complete the Address Verification Change Form located on the website under Forms and mail or fax it to the Benefit Office at P.O. Box 396, Troy, MI 48099-0396 or Fax (248) 813-9898.
Q. How can I have my direct deposit changed? 
A. Whenever you have a change in your bank account a new Direct Deposit Authorization Form must be completed and returned to the Benefit Office. A Direct Deposit Authorization Form is on the website under Forms for your convenience.
Q. Who do I notify if my spouse has passed away?
A. If your spouse was retired and receiving a monthly pension check, you must contact the Pension Office. If your spouse is not retired you still need to contact the Pension Office at (248) 641-4949 or (888) 868-6411 to determine if any pre-retirement benefits are payable. A certified copy of the Death Certificate will need to be provided in addition to a Beneficiary Application if a benefit is payable on behalf of the deceased participant.
Q. How do I change my Federal Withholding Tax from my monthly retirement check?
A. You can have your tax withholding changed at any time during the year by completing a new IRS Form W-4P and mailing it to the Pension office. A W-4P Form is also available on this website.
Q. I am not Retired, how do I obtain an estimate on my retirement, who do I call?
A. You must call the Pension Office at (248) 641-4949 or (888) 641-4949 and an estimate will be calculated and mailed to you.
Q. I am going through a divorce, what does the Plan require? 
A. The Plan requires a Qualified Domestic Relations Order filed with the Court if one spouse is awarded a portion of the other spouse’s pension. Your attorney may obtain details and assistance by writing to the Pension Office. You must also submit to the Pension Office a full copy of your Judgment of Divorce.
