Q.

Who is eligible to become a Participant in the Plan?

A.

Members, Apprentices, Retirees, Dependents, Bargaining Unit Alumni (employees working for a contributing employer who were formerly but are no longer a bargaining unit employee), dependent children (see the specific Plan for age limitations) and handicapped children.

Q.

What if I don’t work enough hours to gain eligibility for the month?

A.

Eligibility is by period. Hours worked in January - June give eligibility in July - December. Likewise, hours worked in July - December give eligibility in January - June.

Initial Eligibility Requirements - 625 hours in six months or 1,250 in 12 months for Commercial and 500 hours in six months and 500 hours in six months or 1,000 hours in 12 months for Residential. 
Note that a Commercial member who does not work sufficient hours for the Commercial Plan can qualify for the Residential Plan.  If a Commercial member qualifies for the Residential Plan, he/she can "buy up" to the Commercial Plan.

How do I maintain my monthly Health Plan coverage?

A.

The biannual continuing requirement is the same as the initial requirement: 625 or 1,250 for Commercial and 500 or 1,000 for Residential.

If Active Plan - yes.
If Retiree Plan - age 19 to 23 full time students; must submit student verification every semester.

How do I add my new baby or spouse to my insurance plan?

A.

Spouse: Marriage Certificate.
Baby: Birth Certificate.

It will also be necessary to complete an updated enrollment form when adding a dependent.
