Q.

How do I become a Participant in the Plan?

A.

You must work for an employer who has agreed to contribute to the Plan on your behalf in accordance with a Collective Bargaining Agreement or other written agreement.

Q.

I am going through a divorce, what happens to my pension?

A.

The Fund will adhere to the requirements of a Qualified Domestic Relations Order. 

Q.

Does the Pension Plan affect Social Security benefits in any way?

A.

Your Social Security benefits are not affected in any way.

Q.

Can pensions be paid or assigned or garnered to others?

A.

No with the exception of any IRS Levies.

Q.

If benefits are denied, may a retiree or beneficiary appeal?

A.

Yes. Contact the Fund Office for appeal procedures at 410-872-9544.

Q.

How far in advance should I request an application for retirement?

A.

You may apply 180 days prior to your Annuity Start Date. 

Q.

In addition to the application for retirement, what other documents do I have to submit to the Fund office?

A.

Member's and spouse Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree/Separation Agreement from prior Marriage. 

Q.

I am currently receiving a monthly pension benefit from the Plan and would like to change the tax withholding. What needs to be done?

A.

Complete a new W-4P Federal Tax form. Contact the Fund Office at 410-872-9544 or the IRS.gov website. 

Q.

I am currently receiving a monthly pension benefit from the Plan and would like to change the bank account information. How do I change this information?

A.

Complete a new Authorization for Direct Deposit form. Contact the Fund Office.

Q.

I am currently receiving a monthly pension benefit from the Plan, what happens if I do not receive my check?

A.

Contact the Fund Office.

I recently moved, how do I change my address?

A.

Submit in writing your change of address by fax or mail to the Fund Office.

Q.

Whom should I contact if I'm getting a divorce and what documents do I need to submit?

A.

Submit a copy of your complete Divorce Decree to the Fund Office.
