Frequently Asked Pension Questions

Q.

I’m going through a divorce, what does the Plan require?

A. The Plan is required to comply with a court order that awards a portion or all of your pension benefits to a former spouse. You may request the Plan's procedure for handling domestic relations orders, which includes a sample order to assist in the preparation of such orders.
Q. Who do I notify if my spouse has passed away?
A. If your spouse was retired and receiving a monthly pension check, you must contact the pension office. If your spouse is not retired you still need to contact the pension office at 925-208-9994. A certified copy of the Death Certificate will need to be provided.
Q. How do I go about changing my federal and state tax withholding from my pension retirement check?
A. You can have tax withholding changed at any time during the year by completing a new federal and state tax withholding form and mail it to the pension office. A form is available on this website.
